I'm grateful that my parents were willing to go there conversationally with us and establish no heroic measures and a DNR order. Last memories of my Dad were all sweet. Praying with my believing sisters, encouraging Megan on the phone on her 16th birthday! He had most his faculties but he had suffered some memory loss due to a stroke previously. When my sister asked him to name his five kids, he got the oldest easily, "Janet, Dan, Eileen"..pause...long pause..."Mary"...longer pause and finally giving up on my name he said, "the other Mary"!
